"I liked the movie. Not great, not bad, but I was glad I went to it. On a scale of 1 to 10, I would score it a 6. With a cast that you can count on one hand, not much character development. Mostly non-verbal, I think less than two dozen complete sentences were spoken during the whole movie. If you have been winter camping or enjoy participating in winter sports like I do, you might enjoy it. Otherwise you might not. I thought that it was reasonably technically accurate. It is a survival plot, not an epic story like Shackleton, but it was quite an arduous ordeal." - George M.

"Have to agree with Rotten Tomatoes' description that the movie is formulaic. The plot repeats the classic power struggle punctuated by hints of romance and intrigue. Positives: great costumes and makeup, detailed and realistic sets, special effects. Theme of not conquering the world despite advanced knowledge Negatives: too long, too many borrowed ideas- looked as if they re-cycled StarWars footage for the aerial scenes. The gadget gal was too similar to Q from the James Bond movies Commentary: the Wakanda culture presents an interesting commentary on use of power and technology. Is it possible to yield benevolent domination? Were the writers trying to be clever by inserting the scenes from Oakland, which happens to be the birthplace of the Black Panther Party?" - BobbyH

Great movie about the struggle of blacks and woman for their rights in the early 60's. We were all stunned by the 'way it was' so relativity recently. Great acting and story. Also more interesting when a a movie is based on fact.

A few novel ways of killing and maiming his attackers: loading a shell into his shotgun while pinning down his victim with the barrel; opening the car door to cause the approaching motorcycle to crash into it, a la Roadrunner and Wily Coyote. And, according to IMDB, the car in the early chase scene was in fact a 1970 Chevelle SS. The Continental-Rome set was well done, especially the part site and catacombs

Becky is a retired vice-president of the Madison Area College. She serves on the Fitchburg City Council and is very active in her church. Becky B.
Bill reported on government and politics for United Press International. He's the founder of the Bicycle Federation of Wisconsin, creator of the GRABAAWR bicycle ride along the Wisconsin River, and also directed the SAGBRAW bicycle event. He's now working on improving Wisconsin's recreational and transportation trail system. Bill H.
Bill is a retired lieutenant from the Madison Fire Department. He is now a part time instructor in the fire science program at the Madison Area College. Bill B.
Bill spent his adult life in public education: 24 1/2 years as a teacher; 2 years as a high school assistant-principal (misery for sure); 10 years as a high school principal; and, 4 years as a superintendent of schools. He has been married to his dear Ruby Kay for almost 40 years. Bob retired in 2008 after 33 years as Civil and Environmental Engineer with WDNR working primarily in the field of wastewater treatment. He and wife, Nan, like to travel, attend UW football, basketball and hockey games as time permits. Bob is also active with Wisconsin Public Television, the neighborhood association, church, and retirement activities like the bike and bowl group, DNR golf league and card games with fellow retirees. Since the1980's I have owned eight bikes of various types, and actually raced a mountain bike in the WORBA series in the early 90’s (Have four bikes now). I have ridden many multi-day trips both loaded and with shuttled luggage in the United States, Europe, England, Scotlsnd and SE Asia and over 30,000 miles on one bike or another with a lot of it on the Badger Trail. David spent most of his career as an assistant legal counsel for DATCP. He was the attorney for the Wisconsin consumer protection program writing laws and rules for the marketplace and bringing enforcement actions against violators. Daryl retired in 2017 after almost 31 years at the State Legislature's nonpartisan budget office. He enjoys road & trail biking and touring during warmer months and XC skiing in winter. Earl is one of the Founders of the Madison Bike and Bowl Team. He retired from WDNR's Bureau of Forestry in 1986, and died of esophageal cancer in 2006. Earl M.

Gene retired from the WDNR's Waste and Materials Management Program in 2009 after 32 years of service, working both in the Madison Central office (starting at the Pyare Square Bldg) and at SCR's Fish Hatchery Rd office. During that time he worked as a plan review engineer, regional program manager and section chief. He also had the opportunity to work with EPA in Washington on a number of environmental initiatives. Ken is a retired Civil Engineer and was the Director of Dane County Public Works for 26 years. The department was responsible for new building construction; solid waste program, lake levels and aquatic weed harvesting. He is married to Carol and they have two children and four grandchildren. He teaches canoe and kayak building classes. Ken has been going to the Quetico Provincial park for 47 years and has over seventy-five trips! Ken K.
Ken worked as a professor at UW-Madison from 1985-2018 when he retired. He was UW’s Forest Entomologist, and frequently collaborated with DNR, DATCP, and USFS personnel. Ken lives in the near west side of Madison with his wife, and has 2 daughters and 3 grandkids. He grew up in Wilmington, Delaware and was born in Irvington New Jersey. He now spends his time biking, hiking and golfing in the summer, and downhill skiing in the winter. His fitness goal is simply to stay above ground. Terry is a lieutenant/paramedic with the City of Madison Fire Department and 49 year old lucky husband and father of two 9,10 year old children and so far Cancer stage 3 survivor of 3 rounds of chemo and 3 surgeries. Community volunteer : local, national and international. His favorite bike tour is Ride the Rockies. Other hobbies include: ice hockey, everything outdoors, and his children=family first. Terry R.
Tom is retired from the UW having supervised the dairy operation at Babcock Hall on the UW Madison campus. Several times a year Tom treats the group to a sampling of the latest ice cream flavors! He also enjoys woodworking and playing chess. Tom passed away in 2020. Tom B.

Will grew up in and around Chicago, taught Spanish in Milwaukee, practiced law in Madison and was staff counsel to the WI Supreme Court twenty-two years, retiring 2014. He spent twelve years as part-time land manager for Dane County Parks dealing with new properties. He volunteers with DCP chainsaw and prescribed burn crews, Holy Wisdom Monastery prairie development and Habitat for Humanity deconstruction crew. Will M.
